History

According to the Rajput bards the Chauhan is one of the four Agnikula or 'fire sprung' tribes who were created by the gods in the Agni kund or 'fountain of fire' on Mount Abu to fight against the Asuras or demons. There was a Asur Named Dhunda at Mount Abu.All Rajputs of the world were unable to kill him. Then Guru Vashistha make a Yagya at Mount Abu.In the agni of that Yagya 4 Rajputs took Birth Ist was Parihar 2nd was Pammar 3rd was Solanki but those 3 were also unable to kill asur Dhundha. Then 4th birth from that Kund Was Anhil, his name was Anhil,Guru Vashishtha take the 4 Swear from Anhil those were Satya,Dharm,Karm & Daya, those were 4 Aans for Anhil So he named as The follower of charaans ie.Chauhan.The Anhil killed that Asur Dhundha & free the Earth from Asurs.Chauhan is also one of the 36 ruling races of the Rajputs. Chauhans were mainly used as foot soldiers in many battles due to their huge population.

The Chauhan dynasty flourished from the 8th to 12th centuries AD. It was one of the four main Rajput dynasties of that era, the others being Pratiharas, Paramaras and Chalukyas. Chauhan dynasties established themselves in several places in North India and in the state of Gujarat in Western India. They were also prominent at Sirohi in the southwest of Rajputana, and at Bundi and Kota in the east. Inscriptions also associate them with Sambhar, the salt lake area in the Amber (later Jaipur) district (the Sakhambari branch remained near lake Sambhar and married into the ruling Gurjara-Pratihara, who then ruled an empire in Northern India). Chauhans adopted a political policy that saw them indulge largely in campaigns against the Chalukyas and the invading Muslim hordes. In the 11th century they founded the city of Ajayameru (Ajmer) in the southern part of their kingdom, and in the 12th century captured Dhilika (the ancient name of Delhi) from the Tomaras and annexed some of their territory along the Yamuna River. Prithvi Raj Chauhan has become famous in folk tales and historical literature as the Chauhan king of Delhi who resisted the Muslim attack in the First Battle of Tarain (1191). Armies from other Rajput kingdoms, including Mewar assisted him. However, Prithviraj was defeated in the Second Battle of Tarain the following year. This failure ushered in Muslim rule in North India in the form of the Slave Dynasty, the first of the Delhi Sultanates.

The Chauhans later asserted their independence from the Pratiharas, and in the early eleventh century, the Sakhambari king Ajaya-Raja founded the city of Ajayameru (Ajmer) in the southern part of their kingdom, and in the mid twelfth century, his successor Vigraharaja enlarged the state, captured Dhilika (the ancient name of Delhi) from the Tomaras and annexed some of their territory along the Yamuna River, including Haryana and Delhi. In 12th century the Chauhans dominated Delhi, Ajmer and Ranthambhor. They were also prominent at Godwar in the southwest of Rajputana, and at Hadoti (Bundi and Kota) in the east. Chauhans adopted a political policy that saw them indulge largely in campaigns against the Chalukyas and the invading Muslim hordes.

The Chauhan kingdom became the leading state and a powerful kingdom in Northern India under King Prithvi Raj Chauhan (1165-1192), also known as Rai Pithora. Prithvi Raj Chauhan has become famous in folk tales and historical literature as the Chauhan king of Delhi who resisted and repelled the invasion by Mohammed of Ghor at the first Battle of Tarain in 1191. Armies from other Rajput kingdoms, including Mewar, assisted him. The Chauhan kingdom collapsed after Prithvi Raj Chauhan was defeated by the use of deception by Mohammed of Ghor in 1192 at the Second Battle of Tarain.

Anuja Chauhan

Anuja Chauhan (born 1970) is an Indian author and adwoman. She worked in advertising agency, JWT India, for over 17 years, eventually becoming Vice President and executive creative director, before resigning in 2010 to pursue a full-time literary career. Over the years she worked with brands like Pepsi, Kurkure, Mountain Dew and Nokia, creating Pepsi's 'Nothing official about it' campaign and ad slogans like, Pepsi's Yeh Dil Maange More and Oye Bubbly. As a writer, she is best known of her bestselling, contemporary rom-com novels, The Zoya Factor (2008) and Battle For Bittora (October 2010). Both books are romances, the first set in the glamorous, high pressure world of Indian cricket, and the second in the heat and dust of a Lok Sabha (lower house of Parliament) election.

Early Life and education

Born in the small town of Meerut, in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, Anuja spent most of her childhood in various cantonment towns in North India, as her father served in the Indian Army. He took premature retirement at the rank Lieutenant Colonel, migrating to Australia thereafter. She was the youngest of four sisters

She did her schooling at the Army Public School, New Delhi, Sophia Girls Convent, Meerut Cantonment and Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, New Delhi. She has a Bachelors degree in Economics from Miranda House, Delhi University and a post graduate diploma in Mass Communication from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
Career
Advertising

Anuja joined JWT in 1993 and in next seventeen years was responsible for many memorable catchphrases, primarily for Pepsi Cola, India, such as "Yeh Dil Maange More!", "Mera Number kab Aayega","Nothing official about it" and " Oye Bubbly", etc. Other popular catchphrases she has worked on include Darr ke Aage jeet Hai for Mountain Dew, Tedha Hai par mera Hai for Kurkure, "Be a Little Dillogical", for Lays Chips and KitKat Break Banta hai for Nestle Kitkat. By 2003 and at age 33, she had already become one of the youngest VP in JWT team, and was known for her penchant for "simple solution to a complex advertising problem," with clutter-breaking ideas. She features regularly in The Economic Times supplement Brand Equity’s list of ten Hottest Creative Directors in India, and was ranked 26th in the 'creativerankings 2010', a list of the hottest Executive Creative Directors in Asia-Pac.

In August 2010, she resigned for her post of vice-president and executive creative director at JWT, Delhi, where she had worked for 17 years, to pursue a career in writing. However, she still remains active as an advertising consultant and is the only Indian to feature on the prestigious One Show Jury for the year 2011. (The One Show awards, organized by the One Club, New York, are the most coveted advertising awards in the world.)
Author

She started working on her debut novel in 2006, writing during her spare time. Having work on Pepsi brand for 13 years, closely associated with cricket advertising, eventually led to cricket became the setting of her novel about a girl Zoya Singh Solanki, a client service rep with an advertising agency, who becomes a lucky mascot of the Indian cricket team. At the time of its release, The Zoya Factor ran the danger of being dismissed as ‘Mills and Boon-ish’ but most reviewers were quick to praise the depth of the author’s characters, her wicked descriptions and the authenticity of her Hinglish laced dialogue

She has been hailed as the best chick lit writer in India, but in a recent interview to CNBC-18 said that she has issues with the chicklit tag and with tags generally. The Zoya Factor has won 'Cosmopolitan Magazine, India’s Fun Fearless Female award for literature (2008) and the India Today Woman award for Woman as Storyteller (2009). It was longlisted for the India Plaza Golden Quill (2009). The novel has also been optioned for a film by Shah Rukh Khans Red Chillies Entertainment production company. The option is for three years.

Her much anticipated book, Battle For Bittora, about a about 25-year old Jinni living in Mumbai and working for an animation studio and what happens when she comes back to her hometown, Bittora, at the call of her grandmother, was released in 2010 by actor Saif Ali Khan in Delhi in October 2010,to unanimous critical approval from India Today, Outlook, The Week and Tehelka magazines.

Tehelka called it a "worthy successor to The Zoya Factor."According to Ira Pande, in Outlook magazine, Chauhan 'manages to legitimise a new vocabulary emerging from the violent collision between Bharat and India that has all the promise of a new lingua franca. In the way that Piyush Pandey, Prasoon Joshi and A. R. Rahman have brought a whiff of newness into lyrics and jingles, this new language may outrage purists but describes perfectly memorable Indian sense-impressions, such as Bhainscafe, the brew that marries instant coffee with nauseatingly rich buffalo milk.' The Hindustan Times is its review commended the book for its treatment, while giving the "biggest vote" to novel's characterization.

The film rights for Battle of Bittora have been purchased by the premier film production house Saregama for three years for an undisclosed sum.

Anuja is also writing the screenplay of a commercial feature film - a love story titled 'Guppie - mein liar nahi shayar hoon' by Nikhil Advani a promiment bollywood producer/director who has directed the superhit Kal Ho Na Ho and most recently, the Akshay Kumar starrer, Patiala House.

Neither of her novels have received an international release yet.

RAJ KUMAR CHAUHAN

SHRI RAJ KUMAR CHAUHAN,
Hon'ble Minister for PWD, Development, Revenue, Irrigation & Flood Control and Welfare of SCs/STs/OBCs
Constituency: Mangol Puri (AC NO. 12)

Shri Raj Kumar Chauhan, son of Late Shri Makhan Lal, was born in a modest family on 27th March, 1957 at Karol Bagh, New Delhi. He entered politics at a very young age i.e. 19 years in the year 1976. Since then he has been championing the cause of the poor and downtrodden. All along he has been very active in social sphere and has been involved in various activities relating to welfare of the society at large. With his this kind of approach he was taken as a faithful soldier of the Congress Party and since then he has been serving to the same with unflinching solidarity and loyalty.

He was elected President of the PVC Market (Jawalapuri) in 1991. While holding this position he is instrumental in taking up the causes of the traders and the public at every possible forum to help them grow and develop in a positive and structured frame. He had been fighting for the traders cause ever since Jawalapuri suffered a major setback in the form devastating fire, which rocked the market absolutely.

Rehabilitation schemes were conceived deliberated and got executed by constant persuasion, effective liasioning with various agencies and political masters, whether it was ruling or opposition. This approach brought results and the affected traders are being offered plots at Tikri Kalan and a full-fledged market in a planned way is coming up.

He was made General Secretary (Congress Party) of Najafgarh District in 1993. In 1997 he was elected as President of the Najafgarh District and consecutively for the second he was elected again as President of the Najafgarh District in the year 2001.

Shri Raj Kumar Chauhan was first elected to the Delhi Legislative Assembly in 1993 by defeating his rival with a margin on 7663 votes out of 40,000 votes polled, when the election wave was in the favour of opposition party.

In 1998 he was elected to the Delhi Legislative Assembly for the second consecutive time by defeating his rival with a margin of 21,014 votes, which was the highest lead in percentage of all the constituencies. In the elections held in the year 2003 he was again the winner with the highest margin i.e. over 31000 votes than his nearest rival.

In the current election to the Delhi Legislative Assembly i.e. November, 2008, he defeated his nearest rival with a margin of over 29965 votes.

When he became the Minister for the first time in Govt. of Delhi, he had a vision to extend all possible help to that segment of society, which is generally not in the mainstream.

During his tenure as Minister, Welfare of SC/STs, Development, Revenue, Irrigation & Flood Control, PWD & Urban Development (2003-2008) his major achievement were as under:-

Welfare of SC/ST/OBCs

Ø In this field, new schemes were launched which were beneficial for the persons in these categories for the purpose of self employment. Various loan melas were organized where people were cleared and disbursed their loans within the same day.

Ø Our Late Prime Minister, Bharat Ratna Smt Indira Gandhi had allotted plots to the landless in the late 70’s & early late 80’s under the 20-Point Programme Scheme. Ever since these people were not granted ownership rights. A palpable fear to loom large on these families. A decision was taken to grant the perpetual rights to all these people which has helped thousands of such families in Delhi.

Ø Schedule castes people who were living in Delhi before 1951 were not given the benefits for reservation. There was a division within the same category and SC population after 1951 were enjoying the benefits of reservation whereas before 1951 were not entertained in the reservation process. This anomalous situation was removed and lacs of families who otherwise were deprived of job opportunities in the government set up are now availing the benefits.

Ø To draw various scheme for the benefit of SC/ST/OBC community.

Ø To start the loan process for SC/ST in DSFDC through single window clearance scheme.

Ø To help provide the handicapped people with the fixed wireless phone with cycle/Rickshaw to help to earn their livelihood.

Ø Initiated Jan Shree Beema Yojna for persons living below poverty line

Development Department:-

Ø Starting of Ecology & Environment conservation of clubs with the active participation of villagers to be started in every village.

Ø Main thrust areas – Development and Prevention of ponds and water harvesting.

Ø Starting of village Tourism project and effective use of Multipurpose Community Centres constructed in various villages.

Ø Improvement of community use buildings such as choupals etc.

Ø Improvement & development cremation ground in various villages of Delhi.

Ø Initializing the concept of model village with all the modern amenities.

Ø Rural Development Board was constituted and projects worth thousand crores rupees approximately have been sanctioned for various developmental activities in rural areas. The objective is to melt boundaries between the rural areas and the urban areas of Delhi

Revenue

Ø It is proposed to look into various antiquated laws and rules relating to land revenue which are more of a problem than convenience to the people.

Ø Participation of farming community is proposed in various matters relating to land in various villages.

Ø Computerization of land records in all the districts.

Ø Introduction of E-stamping with an aim to bring transparency in the registration process.

Irrigation & Flood

 It is proposed to draw a proposal relating to conservation of water bodies and improvement of water table in all the villages.

 Timely action relating to desilting etc. before the onset of monsoon every year.

Public Works Department & Urban Development

Since these two are the major departments and are the show case of developing Delhi as a global City, lot of initiatives have been taken to make Delhi a real world class City. Projects which are already on were given impetus and were ensured that timely execution of all such projects take place much before the Commonwealth Games.

Ø As we all know that more than 40 lacs people in Delhi are residing in unauthorized colonies. This is due to the reason that housing facilities are not adequately available in Delhi. This forced the people to set up their establishments in unauthorized colonies and start living there. Since they were leading in a very pathetic life on account of non-availability of civic amenities, thrust given was mainly to provide facilities like, roads, drains, electrification, water pipelines etc to enable them to live a comfortable life. In the last couple of months, ever since this portfolio has been entrusted we could spend hundred of crores of rupees in augmenting the civic amenities in 1409 unauthorized colonies with the objective to improve the living conditions of millions of people residing there.

Ø Regularization of unauthorized colonies has been eluding people living in unauthorized colonies for a very long time. The process of regularization was given impetus and is being ensured that the regularization is done in a time bound fashion so that the dream of the people can be translated into realities. A major step in this direction was taken by providing Provisional Certificates to the RWAs of the Unauthorised Colonies.

Ø Since Commonwealth Games are approaching fast and since they are being held in Delhi, there are number of projects pertaining to creating infrastructural facilities like Flyovers, strengthening of roads, under passes, Foot-over Bridges etc have been given main thrust and is being ensured that these all projects are completed much before their respective deadlines. Couple of Stadia are also being renovated where various sports events are being organized and special attention is being paid to make them ready well in time. These all collectively have attributed a lot in shaping the City with modern infrastructure and in a true sense the City is coming up as a world-class City.

Low Cost Housing

Ø Under JNNURM programme of Central Government Rajiv Ratan Award Yojana was initiated and under this scheme urban poor and the people residing in slum and JJ clusters were asked to file applications to enable the government to provide housing facilities to all such deprived section of the society on the most subsidized rate. Construction of approximately 10000 flats is in full swing on different locations in the Capital and it is hoped that by the beginning of the new year the Govt. shall be in a position to allot houses to approximately 10000 families.

Ø Under this scheme government is proposing to construct approximately 4 lacs of houses to provide decent living to all such families living in Delhi

Before he became Minister in the Delhi Govt., he had been working in important capacities with different committees viz.;

1. Privilege Committee of the Legislative Assembly, Delhi.
2. Assurance Committee of the Legislative Assembly, Delhi.
3. Member, Planning Board, Delhi
4. Chairman, Advisory Committee, Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, Mangol Puri.

Ashok Chavan

Ashok Shankarrao Chavan
Ashok Shankarrao Chavan (Marathi: अशोक चव्हाण) (born 28 October 1958 (age 52)) was the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Chavan was sworn in on 8 December 2008, after his political party, the Indian National Congress and Vilasrao Deshmukh selected him to be Vilasrao Deshmukh's successor on 5 December 2008. He earlier served as Minister for Cultural Affairs, Industries, Mines and Protocol in Vilasrao Deshmukh government. Chavan is son of former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shankarrao Chavan and they are the first father–son duo in the state's history to become chief ministers.Chavan was asked to resign as Chief Minister during a meeting with Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, after it emerged that three of his relatives were house-owners of a government housing society in upmarket Colaba.

Political career

He graduated in Science and has obtained his Master's in Business Management. He started his political career as General Secretary, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee. In 1987–88, he was elected as Member of Parliament from Nanded Lok Sabha constituency. In 1992, he was elected as M.L.C to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and later joined as Minister of State for Public works, Urban Development and Home in March 1993. In 2003, Vilasrao Deshmukh appointed Chavan as Minister for Transport, Ports, Cultural Affairs and Protocol. In November 2004, Chavan became Minister for Industries, Mining, Cultural Affairs & Protocol. He was the General Secretary of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee from 1995 to 1999. He is the President of Sai Sevabhavi Trust Nanded, a charitable voluntary organisation.

Sharad Pawar, the regional satrap, had been lukewarm towards Chavan, after his first choice of union power minister Sushil Kumar Shinde was ignored well before the race began. Congress had clearly plumped for a Maratha to lead the party in the state, and had ignored the NCP view that it go for a non-Maratha to set right the social combination.

As a result, NCP chose a non-Maratha, Chhagan Bhujbal to man the deputy CM's post and gave the home ministry to Jayant Patil. The latter being a Maratha balanced the NCP's own bid to remain the community's first choice.

On 20 February 2009, Narayan Rane was inducted into the cabinet and was made the Minister of Industry.

After winning assembly elections in 2009, Congress President Sonia Gandhi named Ashok Chavan as next Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

Controversy, Scams and Allegations
 Adarsh Housing Society Scam

On March 14, 2011 Defence Minister A. K. Antony told Parliament that Ashok Chavan is one of the 13 people named by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Adarsh Housing Society Scam.

Chavan was accused of nepotism when he gave two flats in the Adarsh Housing society in Colaba to some of his close relatives, the society was originally meant for war widows. Chavan was summoned to Delhi where he offered to resign before party chief Sonia Gandhi. He was asked to tender his resignation to Governor K Sankaranarayanan, pending an inquiry into the Adarsh Cooperative Housing Society scam in Mumbai. His successor as chief minister of Maharashtra is Prithviraj Chavan.

Chauhan made his Test debut against New Zealand at the Bombay. His first scoring stroke was a square cut for four, the second a flick for six. He was dropped after two Tests, made an appearance against Australia later in the season, failed, and was dropped again for three years.

Chauhan scored 873 runs in the 1972-73 Ranji season for Maharashtra which was then the second highest aggregate for a season. This included double hundreds in consecutive matches against Gujarat and Vidarbha. Chauhan and Madhu Gupte shared an opening stand of 405 in the latter match. In between the double hundreds, he played two Tests against England. He failed and did not play a Test for another five years.

He moved to Delhi and the North Zone in 1975. One appearance against Sri Lanka in an unofficial Test ended in failure. In 1976-77, he scored 158 against Haryana (with a fractured jaw), 200 v Punjab, 147 v Karnataka and 150 against the Central Zone. Another Duleep trophy hundred early in the next season found him a place in the team to Australia.
[edit] The comeback

Chauhan scored 157 against Victoria in his first match of the tour. It took him 516 minutes and included just two fours. Paul Hibbert of Victoria had scored a hundred earlier in the match without a single boundary. Chauhan returned to the Indian team for the second Test at Perth and hit 88 in his very first innings. From then he missed only one Test till the end of his career and, except for one occasion, opened with Gavaskar every time. At Lahore against Pakistan they added 192, and 117 & 153 against West Indies at Bombay.

In England in the 1979, they put on 213 in the second innings at The Oval when India missed the target of 438 by nine runs. Against Australia in 1980-81, Chauhan scored 249 runs in three Tests to Gavaskar's 118. He missed a hundred by three runs in Adelaide. At Melbourne in the next Test, he scored 85 and added 165 with Gavaskar before the latter was given out lbw to Dennis Lillee. Gavaskar, the captain, disputed the decision on the way out and ordered Chauhan to leave the field with him. An embarrassing situation was avoided when the Indian manager Wing Cmdr. Shahid Durrani persuaded Chauhan to return. Touring New Zealand after the trip to Australia, Chauhan scored 78 in the second Test and 36 & 7 in the third.

 Later years

Chauhan was surprisingly dropped after the tour and never selected for another Test match. He added 3022 runs with Gavaskar in their 59 opening stands, ten of which were over 100. He scored 2084 runs in his career with 16 fifties but without a century. His last first class match was the Ranji final against Bombay in 1985 where he scored 98 and 54 with a fractured finger.

Yashwantrao Balwantrao Chavan (12 March 1913 - 25 November 1984)

Yashwantrao Chavan

Yashwantrao Balwantrao Chavan (12 March 1913 - 25 November 1984) was the first Chief Minister of Maharashtra after the division of Bombay State, and subsequently Deputy Prime Minister of India. He was Chief Minister of Maharashtra from May 1, 1960 to November 19, 1962. Yashwantrao Chavan was born in the village of Devrashtre in Karad Taluka of Satara District of Maharashtra State of India. Apart from being the first Chief Minister of Maharashtra, he occupied the high positions of Defence Minister, Home Minister, Finance Minister, Foreign Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister of India. Yashwantrao Chavan was commonly known as Chavan saheb. While he later championed the view associated with the term Sanyukta Maharashtra, under the influence of Jawaharlal Nehru he almost accepted a bilingual state of Maharashtra[citation needed]. He had planned to write his autobiography in three parts. First part covering his early years in Satara district. His native place is situated on the banks of Krishna River and therefore the name of the first part was "Krishna Kath" (The bank of the Krishna River). In the middle phase of his political development he was the Chief Minister of bilingual Bombay state and later from 1 st May 1960, the newly formed Maharashtra state. All these years were spent in Mumbai so the proposed name for the second volume was "Sagar Tir". Later in 1962 he was appointed Defence Minister of India by Nehru. From then onwards he was in Delhi until his death in 1984; so he had proposed the name "Yamuna Kath" for his third volume. He was able to complete and publish only the first volume. He was a capable orator and writer. He strongly advocated socialist democracy and was instrumental in establishing co-operatives in Maharashtra for the betterment of the farmers. In 1989, an open university named 'Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University' was established in Maharashtra after his name.

Parul Chauhan

Parul Chauhan Pic

Parul Chauhan, born March 19, 1988. Basically her family is from Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh. She is an Indian television model and Bollywood actress as well, who shot to fame via her role as Ragini in the hit serial "Sapna Babul Ka... Bidaai". She has also participated in the Sony TV's dance show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa with choreographer Deepak.

Parul Chauhan came from Lucknow to Mumbai in 2005 leaving her engineering course half way. She was motivated by her brother's friend to try her hand at modelling and her first attempt in the world of acting got her the serial Sapna Babul Ka-Bidaai and rest is all history.

It is very amazing to know that how Parul Chauhan get offer to play Ragini in Sapna Babul Ka... Bidaai. Parul Chauhan dropped in her photographs at Rajan's office. He liked her pictures and called her for the auditions and finally Parul got selected to play Ragini.

A small town girl from an underprivileged background wants to make it big in the big bad world. So she moves to Mumbai to become an actress, finds absolutely no work, and then, suddenly, one day, gets the Big Break. That's Parul Chauhan's life - a life so filmi, you wonder what's she is doing on Television. But television is where she made it - in fact, Parul Chauhan has just returned form Dubai where she won the Gold Award for best debut on T.V. "This is my third award this year and I can't stop smiling," says Parul, also known as Ragini in Star Plus' Sapnaa Babul Ka - Bidaai.
"Till a year ago, I couldn't stop wondering why life was so unfair," Parul Chauhan says. "Now I can't thankful enough. Bidaai has given me everything."
And no wonder. In the space of one year, Parul Chauhan went from not having enough cash to eat for 15 days to planning to buy a second car for her father - quite a journey. "My father is a very junior employee in the government and his earning are barely enough for our day to day existence. So indulgence were a far fetched dream," says Parul Chauhan.
Mumbai's film and Television industries were never on her wish list till a cousin motivated her to try her luck. "He was working in Mumbai and was clued in to the entertainment scene. He said I was dark but my features were good and I had expression. So I came to Mumbai." Parul Chauhan says.
But that was just the beginning. For 10 months, Parul Chauhan didn't get work. In a fair and lovely world, people didn't want to take a risk with a dark actress. "There was a time when I didn't have money to eat and I decided to go back," Parul Chauhan says. But Rajan Shahi, the director of Bidaai, called her. "And he just signed me on. I couldn't believe it. He said if my face could talk though still pictures, I could do wonders on screen. Thankfully, all these awards prove that he was right."

How similar Parul Chauhan to Ragini in real life?
Parul love wearing traditional costumes, sarees, salwar-kameezes. She is not much of a jeans lover, but but like to look cool. So in that case you may say that she is little bit similar to Ragini in real life.

Sunidhi Chauhan, whose life is often mentioned as that of a princess locked in the pages of a fairy tale, was born on 14th August 1983. She crooned her first number Ladki Diwani (Shastra) in 1994, went on to win the mega final of Meri Awaaz .
Suno in 1996, has sung for over 2500 Hindi and regional language songs till date. She walked into the world of music as a little girl in a talent search TV music show. She showed no nervousness. Rather, only a confidence that took audience by surprise.
Sunidhi began performing when she was five. Her dad, Mr. Dushyant Chauhan, was the first one to spot her immense potential and realize that they had a prodigy on their hands. TV host Tabassum spotted her at a show and reinforced her dad’s belief which made him shift to Mumbai with his entire family to develop her talent. They moved to the city of dreams and into music director Kalyanji 'bhai's Little Wonders troupe, in which she was the lead singer.
Fame really came to her, though, only through the TV show Meri Aawaz Suno. The prize for the winner was to cut an album with HMV. Sunidhi won and recorded Aira Gaira Nathu Khaira with HMV. However, this was promoted as a kid’s album and did not do justice to Sunidhi’s immense talents.
Although her first break in a Hindi film was in the film Shastra, her first breakthrough however was Ram Gopal Verma's Mast. She sang the hit Ruki Ruki Si Zindagi and also three other songs (including Mast) in the film. Sandeep Chowtha's first film as a composer
got an ideal virgin voice in Sunidhi and her song became the most memorable number in the film. She added yet another feather to her cap by bagging the R D Burman award for the most promising newcomer at the Filmfare Awards 2001. Not one to rest on her laurels, she started training in Indian classical music so she could improve her skills. She also loves Western music and Mariah Carey and Michael Jackson top her list of favorites. Her ambition is to achieve global fame like them.
