Five years after her Bollywood debut Jannat and two years after a brief appearance in Bbuddah…Hoga Terra Baap, Sonal Chauhan is making a comeback of sorts as a leading lady in psychological horror thriller 3G. Battling intermittent link up stories as well as the waiting period that she had to suffer before bagging a new film, Sonal is back in news. While she was working on 3G, there was this entire episode six months ago where she and Neil Nitin Mukesh were linked up. One wonders what really happened?

“Thank goodness that at least someone is giving me that respect by asking me what really happened”, sighs Sonal, “See, sometimes silence is taken very differently and then after a while, people start looking at it at face value and assuming that it is all true. At my part I did clarify things for a while. It was unfortunate that such speculations started making rounds. People do get misquoted. (Pauses) In this industry, there is always an attempt to link up two good looking people.”

However, since she doesn’t have a famous boyfriend or a Godfather, does she feel that the very survival proves to be a challenge in itself?

“I really don’t know how having a famous boyfriend can help”, says Sonal, “If you are not good enough or talented then no matter who is your boyfriend or Godfather, you won’t be able to step up the ladder. I have never understood this concept. If a director or a producer takes a liking for you, why would he still want to invest crores and make a film for you? I would still say that no director would compromise a movie for a random person; it is the talent that eventually comes through. If you have the right people around you, it always works.”

Guess she is finally finding some right people around her, what with Eros and Viki Rajani trusting her to deliver goods. With rumours already floating around the production company having signed Sonal for her next, the pretty girl is indeed moving on a new phase of her career.

Sonal Chauhan fined by Mumbai Customs

Sonal Chauhan is the latest actress to have come under the scanner of the Mumbai Customs. The Jannat babe, who was returning from Macau after attending an awards function, tried to pass through the green channel but was stopped for questioning by the Mumbai Customs.

Sonal was intercepted for carrying high-end branded bags and not declaring her purchases. The actress had picked up the bags from Hong Kong international airport and thought she could get away without having to pay any duty. However, that was not to be and finally Sonal had to end up paying Rs.85,000 as a fine for evading duty after which she was allowed to go.

Sonal Chauhan to debut as singer

The gentle 'Jannat' beauty is soon going to show her another side of talent.

In her forthcoming psychological thriller '3-G', Sonal Chauhan is said to be debuting as a singer courtesy the co-star Neil Nitin Mukesh.

In fact, buzz is that Neil has turned composer for this film by churning out eight tunes! The actor already debuted as singer in 'Aa Dekhen Zara' and with '3-G', he seemed to have pushed himself to prove his musical personality

Sources have it that it was Neil who encouraged Sonal to render her voice for one of the song in '3-G', after he heard her singing. Pretty much impressed with her hidden singing talent, Neil even said to have a song ready that will suitable for her voice.

Neil Nitin Mukesh and Sonal Chauhan are inseparable in Fiji

Neil Nitin Mukesh and Sonal Chauhan's romance seems to be in full bloom in Fiji where the duo is currently shooting for a psychological thriller titled 3G.

As it is a long outdoor schedule, the two have been living it up. Unit sources state that the couple is inseparable. They may be facing the camera together but after pack up, both don't leave each other's side even for a nanosecond.

A unit source reveals, "The chemistry between the duo is evident. They are not trying to hide anything and the comfort level they share is very obvious. Sonal in fact has even put a picture on her messenger of them holding hands leaving very little to the imagination."

Adds the source, "They are making no efforts to keep their relationship under wraps. It as if they want everyone to know they are in love. On the sets they have been shooting for some tough and draining scenes and both have been lending tremendous support to each other while shooting."

Buzz about them being a pair began in February when they were spotted together in Mumbai and later when they signed a film together.

Sonal and Neil, however, still prefer to be tight lipped about talking about their relationship.

Question. Please tell us about you…
Answer. I am basically from Agra but I was brought u in Delhi. Even my schooling was in Delhi. At present I am doing my graduation in Philosophy from Delhi University.
After winning the title of Miss World Tourism in 2005, I came to Mumbai. Reaching Mumbai I started modeling for brands like Nokia, Airtel and Diet Pepsi. At the same time I was chosen as the brand ambassador for Ponds.
My father is a police officer in UP and my mother is a homemaker.

Question. There are many faces that join the modeling industry but very few of them make their identity in this field. Where do you see yourself?
Answer. It’s tough for me to tell you anything about that as because this is my first film. I’ll try on making my own space in this industry. I am even ready to give extra time for getting my desired position in this industry.

Question.  How did your family react to your decision of joining film industry?
Answer.  They were really against me on my decision of joining modeling as because I am the only girl from my family to join it. Modeling and acting were very same to them.

Everybody is well aware of the gloomy side of this glamorous industry. They wanted me to be doctor or engineer. They thought that I am too immature to take such a decision. But when they saw that I can handle myself in this industry, they started supporting me.

Question. Are you dreaming of joining glamour industry since your childhood?
A. Truly speaking, I never cherished such a dream but whenever I came to see any image of model in any magazine, I felt attracted to them. And I knew that despite having a wish, I could not do that.

I always believe that there is a power that helps me deciding on every matter.

Question.  You are from the world of modeling. Do you believe that reservation is required to switch in your career from modeling to acting?
Answer. My family also believed in the same theory. They also thought that for me it’s going to be very tough to become actress as I had none in the industry. That’s the reason they defied my decision.

I have never done anything against my family and neither will I do anything like that. I convinced them a lot and then came with my mother to take part in the Miss India contest.

Question.  When your family was so against your modeling career then how come you took part in it?
Answer. I used to take part in few modeling assignments during my college days. My mother had no problem with that since she was okay with me enjoying my vacations.

Only my sister knew about my wish to become a model and she sent my photograph to the Miss India contest. It’s only after receiving a phone call from them that I realized the matter. But to attend the contest I had to work very hard in convincing my family.

Question.  Do you have boyfriend?
Answer. Fortunately I am still single. To be very frank, I see a lot of engaged people around me and I know very well about the tough sides of those relationships. Keeping that suffering in mind, I think, better I stay alone.

Question.  Do you believe in love at first sight?
Answer. Not at all. You may just start feeling attracted to someone with your first sight but falling for someone is absolutely impossible.

Question.  Who was your first crush?
Answer. In my childhood, when I was in my second standard, I liked a boy. After growing up a bit I felt really affected with Shah Rukh Khan. I still feel that Shah Rukh is the most intelligent and charming man in this country.

Question. Have you ever gone through any training for acting?
Answer. Not till now but I will surely do that if required. I was learning Kathak for a few days but had to leave it as to start shooting for Jannat.

Question. Which does mean most to you – big banner or character?
Answer. Character, of course.

Question.  The type of films you would love to do…
Answer. I just have started my career in films and it’s quite tough for me to decide on that. But one thing is for sure that I don’t want to appear on screen as just a glamour doll. I would love be part of arties provided, someone allows me a chance. -

Model Sonal Chauhan's acting career has kick-started in a big way.

Sonal Chauhan seems to have become the blue-eyed girl of the Bhatts. First, she was considered a suitable replacement to Bipasha Basu in the sequel of Raaz . Now, Sonal has bagged another film from the Bhatt camp.

Gorgeous model Sonal Chauhan is set to make a transition from ramp to reel.

Sonal has been part of several beauty pageants. She reached the finals of the Miss India pageant two years back and she won the title of Miss World Tourism in 2005 in Malaysia. Since then she has done several commercials, the most prominent of which was her Lays ad with actor Saif Ali Khan .


Sonal has always expressed her wish to enter filmdom but she never got a suitable offer. Now, she has got one.

Sonal Chauhan is the latest Bhatt find. Slowly and steadily, the svelte girl has been making her transition from ramps to Bollywood.

She is already being touted as the next Kangana Ranaut in the making. Sweet and sexy Sonal is set to make her acting debut in the Vishesh Films' next production titled Jannat opposite Emraan Hashmi .

Born and brought up in Delhi, Sonal shot to fame by reaching the finals of the Miss India pageant in 2005. It was also the year Sonal won the Miss World Tourism in Malaysia. She was the first Indian to win the title.

Once she was a popular name, modeling offers began pouring in without her asking. Things took a new turn when Mahesh Bhatt spotted Sonal in an ad. Known for giving breaks to new girls, Bhatt approached Sonal for his movie 'Jannat', directed by Kunal Deshmukh. Though Sonal had got acting offers in the past and she had turned them down, the script of Jannat "captivated" her.

"I knew that females have more than walk-on roles in the films by the Bhatts. And after I heard 'Jannat', I immediately said yes," Sonal is quoted as saying.

The rest, as they say, is history.

Sonal was aboard the project and she got considerable help and support from the entire team at Vishesh Films while shooting her first movie. And oh, she also has a passionate kiss with Emraan in the film.

Ask her about the kiss and Sonal replies: "It was a demand of the scene. Neither me nor Emraan was comfortable doing it."

Sonal Chauhan has been lying low after making her debut in the hit film Jannat . Though the girl was offered another plum project by the Bhatts, she turned it down. She says her decisions are driven by her instinct.
While newcomers look out to cash in on the success of their first film, Sonal has been biding her time and choosing projects selectively rather than lapping up anything coming her way. Today, instead of any big budgeted Bollywood potboiler, she's doing a film on painter M F Hussain's biopic. The film is being directed by Hussain's son Owais.

"The moment I heard Owais' project I knew this was what I wanted to do. I didn't care how commercial it sounded. It just sounded right for me. I've always done what I instinctively felt to be right,"

Sonal has been shooting the film in Chandigarh where she even suffered a burn injury during one of the shoots.

"It could've been much worse. There I was on a crane, heading towards the sky when these two floodlights came close to my face. No one had any idea how warm the lights were. By the time I was brought down the damage had already been done. I was singed and in pain," Sonal revealed.

But did she not feel bad turning down the Bhatts film Jashnn despite the fact that the Bhatts launched her in Bollywood.

"I wouldn't say I turned them down. It (the film) was just not what I wanted to do at that time," Sonal said.

But Sonal doesn't have any regrets. The latest on her front is that she has signed to play a female lead in director Anthony D'Souza 's next thriller after Blue . The movie would star her opposite John Abraham .

"Yes, we've met and I'm doing Tony's film," Sonal confirmed.

And that brings us to the latest controversy in Sonal’s career. Apparently someone had launched a fake website pretending to be Sonal Chauhan.
“When I heard about it I couldn’t let it go because I was launching my own website. I put my lawyers on to the imposter.
We tracked the culprit down and brought him to book. I think it’s very important for known people in our entertainment industry to stand up against cyber crimes. We take them too casually and encourage hackers and imposters.”

Jannat star Sonal Chauhan’s boyfriend arrested for slapping her

Sonal Chauhan who made her debut in Bollywood recently with Emraan Hashmi in Jannat was allegedly slapped by her boyfriend Sahil Zaroo at the city Airport. Now we hear that Sahil Zaroo is being arrested by the Police for assault.
According to onlookers Sahil and Sonal met at the Santa Cruz domestic airport, and while Sonal was collecting her boarding pass for Hyderabad at the Jet Airways counter Sahil got into an argument and allegedly slapped her. Sonal Chauhan’s father was present there when this event occurred. The CISF personnel handed Sahil over to Santa Cruz Airport Police.
“Sahil snatched her mobile and tried to embrace her while she resisted. So we slapped theft and molestation charges against him,” said senior police inspector S M Ghuge.

Surprisingly, Chauhan registered a complaint in the name of Sonal Raghuraj Singh, 21. In her complaint, she said that she was a student. The Delhi court on Wednesday remanded Zaroo who was arrested under sections 323, 354, 448, 509 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code for assaulting Sonal. He was earlier accused of selling cocaine to BJP leader Pramod Mahajan’s son Rahul Mahajan.

Sonal Chauhan has a car accident on expressway

Sonal Chauhan was a victim of the incessant monsoon rains. The actress was off to Pune for an appearance, after completing her final day of shoot for Buddha Hoga Terra Baap when she met with a mishap on the expressway.


As it was pouring, the car skid off the road and hit a road divider. The vehicle was damaged but Sonal and her driver were safe, though the driver complained of sprain in his back and arm. The actress had a slight bump and minor bruises on her head. Sonal got help from passers-by and only after the driver assured her that all was well with him, they resumed their journey.

Sonal Chauhan said 'no' to wearing bikini

Newcomer Sonal Chauhan says she was asked to wear bikini in her debut film.

Jannat marks the transition or rather graduation of Sonal from ramps to Bollywood. And the gorgeous belle has already got her priorities right in place.

For starters, she is not game for posing in revealing clothes. She is also not open to doing intimate scenes with her co-stars. Sonal has revealed in an interview that she was asked to wear a bikini and do a bed scene with Emraan Hashmi in 'Jannat', but she refused to do them.


"I have not shot a single scene where I am in bikini or in such a condition that I cannot watch with my family," says Sonal and goes on to claim that 'Jannat' doesn't even have a kissing scene between Emraan and her.

However, what she does concede to is doing a pole dance for a song with Russian dancers.

Sonal adds that working with Hashmi was fun. She recalls that he tried playing a few pranks on her, but without much success.

"On a promotional event he tried to add something into my drink, but I caught him. During shooting, we played pranks on a few unit-members by knocking on the doors of their rooms and disappearing," says Sonal.

Apart from 'Jannat', Sonal has two more films with Vishesh Films. She recently also signed a film by producer Kumar Mangat .

She has also signed a Telugu movie called Rainbow casting Rahul and Sindhu Menon. The movie is being directed by V. N. Adithyas.

Singing Career

She started her singing career with song "Kaise Bataoon" , a duet with popular singer KK for her movie 3G in which she stars alongside Neil Nitin Mukesh.
