Gorgeous model Sonal Chauhan is set to make a transition from ramp to reel.

Sonal has been part of several beauty pageants. She reached the finals of the Miss India pageant two years back and she won the title of Miss World Tourism in 2005 in Malaysia. Since then she has done several commercials, the most prominent of which was her Lays ad with actor Saif Ali Khan .


Sonal has always expressed her wish to enter filmdom but she never got a suitable offer. Now, she has got one.

She is being considered for Mukesh Bhatt's sequel of hit movie Raaz .

Although Sonal still has to sign on the dotted line, sources say there is a strong chance that she will bag the part.

Mukesh Bhatt admits that Sonal is being considered for the project, but refuses to divulge any more details.

Meanwhile, Sonal has big Bollywood dreams. She wishes to work in romantic movies. Karan Johar is among her favourite directors. And Shah Rukh Khan is her favourite star.

Sonal Chauhan - from ramps to Jannat

Sonal Chauhan is the latest Bhatt find. Slowly and steadily, the svelte girl has been making her transition from ramps to Bollywood.

She is already being touted as the next Kangana Ranaut in the making. Sweet and sexy Sonal is set to make her acting debut in the Vishesh Films' next production titled Jannat opposite Emraan Hashmi .

Born and brought up in Delhi, Sonal shot to fame by reaching the finals of the Miss India pageant in 2005. It was also the year Sonal won the Miss World Tourism in Malaysia. She was the first Indian to win the title.

Once she was a popular name, modeling offers began pouring in without her asking. Though her parents did not approve of her becoming a model, Sonal pursued her dream and did many advertisements for popular brands like Ponds, Diet Pepsi, Lays, Hero Honda Passion and Nokia. She even shifted to Mumbai to continue her modeling career.

Things took a new turn when Mahesh Bhatt spotted Sonal in an ad. Known for giving breaks to new girls, Bhatt approached Sonal for his movie 'Jannat', directed by Kunal Deshmukh. Though Sonal had got acting offers in the past and she had turned them down, the script of Jannat "captivated" her.

"I knew that females have more than walk-on roles in the films by the Bhatts. And after I heard 'Jannat', I immediately said yes," Sonal is quoted as saying.

The rest, as they say, is history.

Sonal was aboard the project and she got considerable help and support from the entire team at Vishesh Films while shooting her first movie. And oh, she also has a passionate kiss with Emraan in the film.

Ask her about the kiss and Sonal replies: "It was a demand of the scene. Neither me nor Emraan was comfortable doing it."

Emraan not comfortable kissing? Hard to believe!

I've always done what I felt instinctively right: Sonal Chauhan

Sonal Chauhan has been lying low after making her debut in the hit film Jannat . Though the girl was offered another plum project by the Bhatts, she turned it down. She says her decisions are driven by her instinct.
While newcomers look out to cash in on the success of their first film, Sonal has been biding her time and choosing projects selectively rather than lapping up anything coming her way. Today, instead of any big budgeted Bollywood potboiler, she's doing a film on painter M F Hussain's biopic. The film is being directed by Hussain's son Owais.

"The moment I heard Owais' project I knew this was what I wanted to do. I didn't care how commercial it sounded. It just sounded right for me. I've always done what I instinctively felt to be right,"

Sonal has been shooting the film in Chandigarh where she even suffered a burn injury during one of the shoots.

"It could've been much worse. There I was on a crane, heading towards the sky when these two floodlights came close to my face. No one had any idea how warm the lights were. By the time I was brought down the damage had already been done. I was singed and in pain," Sonal revealed.

But did she not feel bad turning down the Bhatts film Jashnn despite the fact that the Bhatts launched her in Bollywood.

"I wouldn't say I turned them down. It (the film) was just not what I wanted to do at that time," Sonal said.

But Sonal doesn't have any regrets. The latest on her front is that she has signed to play a female lead in director Anthony D'Souza 's next thriller after Blue . The movie would star her opposite John Abraham .

"Yes, we've met and I'm doing Tony's film," Sonal confirmed.

Sunidhi Chauhan sings an item song for Tollywood

Having given music lovers the ultimate dance anthem, "Sheila ki jawani", Sunidhi Chauhan has sung an item song for Tollyville - her first. Bringing her on board for Sandipan Roy's "Ekla Akash" is star composer Jeet Gannguli. The recording took place on Tuesday in Mumbai.
Says Jeet, "In the film, Parno plays a model-actor. The situation of the film is such that she is going through a bit of a crisis on the homefront but has to make it to the shoot. It's a film-within-a-film concept, where Parno will be seen dancing to the item number, sung by Sunidhi." The composer has been associated with Sunidhi for long now and the familiarity helped him rope in the singer. "Sunidhi has worked with me on some of my Hindi projects and I felt her vocal texture suits Parno best. Lyrics of the song, "Dekhte dekhte katchhe rattir", has been penned by Srijato. It's also the latter's first in terms of an item song."

Sunidhi Chauhan and K.K. in London for Wembley concert

Playback singers Sunidhi Chauhan and K.K. were in London this weekend for a concert at Wembley arena.

The singers met with press before the performance to discuss their careers and their experience of performing for a British Asian audience.

"We were just passing by Southall and I'm thinking 'are we in India?'" said Chauhan. "The audiences in the UK are the same as the audiences in India. The only difference is they are here."

"We love to perform here. It feels like home away from home," said K.K. "We are stage performers and other than singing in the studios we love to sing on stage and both go hand in hand unless you have the songs in the studios you never get to perform live on stage."

When asked whether she might consider acting instead of singing, Chauhan said: "How can this happen? God gave me such a big gift. As an actor I wouldn't be able to sing, but as a singer I can act.

"Ninety percent of the time, God is great that he blessed us with the voice, but most of the time it involves acting. And if God has given a good face and personality... these things are a bonus, but first love and first priority and first everything is music for me."

The 'Sheila Ki Jawani' singer told Digital Spy that she is satisfied with how her career has progressed.

"I'm happy and I thank God for the life he has given me, but I'm not content. You are never satisfied because you want to grow as a musician. You want to sing not a number of songs but quality of songs.

"I want to keep singing because it makes me feel alive when I sing and I am just about that and I don't think that I can ever stop."

I never loved my abusive ex-boyfriend: Sonal Chauhan

Tony D’Souza, the director of the much-discussed Blue who has worked with beauties like Katrina Kaif, Lara Dutta and Kylie Minogue in his first film, has zeroed in on Sonal Chauhan to play the lead in his second film which will be an action-adventure drama with John Abraham in the lead.
So taken up was the director by the pretty actress that he couldn’t muster the courage to approach her…until Sonal who came to know of Tony’s film, made the first move.
Laughs Sonal, “Yes we’ve met about the film and I’m doing Tony’s film.”

I don’t want to leave this place although our schedule is nearly over, ” says Sonal who completed a Kannada film after Jannat and was waiting for the right Hindi project.

About turning down the Bhatts after they had given her a break like Jannat Sonal protests, “I wouldn’t say I turned them down. It was just not what I wanted to do at that time. Now I hear Mahesh Bhatt Saab himself has directed Jashan. So it must have turned out really special.”
Like it or not Sonal came into the industry in a flurry of controversies. There were scandal about an abusive boyfriend turned stalker, and public scenes with him.
Has this incident put Sonal off love for good? “You’re going by the outside perception of what I went through, That wasn’t love at all. And I’m certainly not off love.
I’m just to much into my work right now to think about anything else. I got a dream launch in Jannat. And I couldn’t allow that rare opportunity to be wasted, ” says the Rajput girl who’s about the launch her own website
And that brings us to the latest controversy in Sonal’s career. Apparently someone had launched a fake website pretending to be Sonal Chauhan.
“When I heard about it I couldn’t let it go because I was launching my own website. I put my lawyers on to the imposter.
We tracked the culprit down and brought him to book. I think it’s very important for known people in our entertainment industry to stand up against cyber crimes. We take them too casually and encourage hackers and imposters.”
